Ted

Hi, I'm Ted Tönjes. My musical career has started ... .. crazy enough on the toilet. After my grandfather has given me an acoustic guitar I got started exercising with the well known  "Guitar Boogie" by Arthur Smith's. My mother did not like this and did not find it a success. Hence I was banished to the bathroom.

After a few years (not only on the toilet ) my skills in playing the guitar was good enough to start an  own school band.  At the age of 13 I was asked to strengthen  the band "The Kingbeezz" as a solo guitar player and some solo vocals here and there. This adventure lasted only two years ,  after that I played as a substitute in lots of bands.

After some time I was asked by my brother Pete Tönjes to play in his band "The Intruders". Not as guitarist ... .... But as a drummer. But my grades were more in playing the guitar and singing and that led us to look for another drummer. The name of this drummer is Harry Versluys. Besides playing the guitar a different love came into play: the steel guitar. In the early 80s I started doing that and still do that with all love. Together with Harry, we have played in The  Intruders for almost 30 years. Highlights from this period included the shows with Emmylou Harris, Lynn Anderson, Freddy Fender, Bobby Bare and other celebrities from the country scene.

In 2003 “The Intruders” era came to an end. Harry and I had many mutual 'musical friends "and with some of them we started “ The Occasion Band ". After several years this musical interlude came to an end. Recently I stepped back into the musical boat. Along with Harry and other musicians, we've formed a band: "Tea for Texas". We are busy setting up a repertoire. And with our motto "Just fun, Just play" we will going on stage.  Where?? Keep an eye on the website.

Musical greeting,
